I'm taking The Hobbit...

Precioussss...
Did I buy this? Yes. Yes, I did.
I sense a certain Hobbit fever going around right now which I'm not completely comfortable with. I feel my expectations going through the roof and I really don't want all that to fall flat. I'm scared that I won't like it. The Hobbit isn't a particularly long book and to make not one, not two but three movies out of it... I don't know. It's been a very tedious nine years since The Return of the King premiered - the movie I went and watched three times at cinemas despite it being three hours long and an almost constantly empty wallet - and I know that my inner Ringer will explode with pleasure within the first ten minutes. No. Make that five minutes.

Internet, I love you
I know you're not supposed to talk about Tumblr because as you know the first rule about Tumblr is that you do not talk about Tumblr. I'll take my chances though.
Ready?
After joining in on the madness that is the Tumblr-verse, I realized that it was 100% based on an obsession level I thought I had already reached a long time ago but how wrong was I? Very. I was an amateur ready to be whipped by the masters of fandoms.
For those of you who doesn't tumblr all day, here are two useful vlogs that might explain a thing or two. This is also extremely amusing because I notice just how much of a fangirl I've become of late. You see... this all makes sense to me.
Internet, I love you for so many reasons. One of them is because you've let the nerds out.
We cannot be contained.
We are spreading.
We are leaving our enthusiasm wherever we go.
I love this.

Over 20 000
And all of a sudden I've had over 20 000 visitors to my blog in the last 2 years. The last 10 000 in the last nine months. During the last three months I've had over 1 500 visitors each month. I'm thrilled but also a little intimidated by the whole thing.
At the same time I know I like it. A lot.
I need your ideas though - to continue writing about the things that interest my visitors I obviously need to know what you're interested in. Go ahead. Surprise me.

Voices
It’s ridiculous. It’s absolutely ridiculous. But also, like small orgasms for the ears.
Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston, two men with very unique voices.
One man did a voice over for some Jaguar ads (that I keep listening to because of, correct, that voice!) and will be the voice of Smaug when the day comes for the second Hobbit movie. The other man doesn’t really talk, does he? He purrs! Makes me happy I’m a cat person to tell you the truth. Makes the experince all the more pleasant.
Feel the bromance!
Haven't seen War Horse yet but think I will pretty soon. Pretty soon.

5 reasons to see Misfits
- The story. Five young offenders are given community service but after being struck by lightning during a hail storm they're nothing but normal. Even though the whole thing with "young-person-develops-superpowers" has been done a million times before, Misfits revives it and adds a new twist.
- The look of it. It’s gritty and solid suburban concrete surroundings through and through.
- Nathan. This Irish little annoying bastard is the most hilarious person I’ve had the joy of encountering in a tv show in the last couple of years. Just full of great insults.
- Simon. He’s the shy big-eyed freak with the camera. A mental breakdown waiting to happen.
- Nathan. No, wait. I’ve said that already. Oh well... He's an inspiration to me.
"What if we're meant to be like superheroes?" - Simon
"You lot... 'superheroes'... No offense but in what kind of fucked-up world would that be allowed to happen?" - Nathan

All you need is friendship
I've been having tea, saffron buns and toffee with the delectable Lucy and yes, I really do feel better now that I've spewed some of that bitterness out. So much better in fact that I need to post a picture of myself proving that I'm ok.

Youtube your way to small victories
I'm not one to roam the realms of Youtube very often and have come to understand that I'm missing out on a few things now and then. Like memes. It was just yesterday that I actually found out what "Nyan Cat" is. It's been all over the place but I just couldn't bring myself to give enough of a fuck to check it out. And what's with all those weird faces? Distorted smileys? WHAT'S THE POINT OF IT?!!
...Ahem.
The drummer has a point though; Orihime should be beaten with a baseball bat. Guess why I stopped watching Bleach.
At a second watch I also laughed at the Trololo song, llamas, the Rick Roll, pedo bear, double rainbow, banana phone, badgers, awesome faces, keyboard cat and other Youtube scourges (Rebecca Black included).
Thank you Jimmy. This is funny.

No. I'm not trying to avoid schoolwork by going on hazardous ventures on Youtube. Not at all. Nope. Would never do that. Not me.

CollegeHumor
One thing led to another and then I just sat laughing for a while.
It's funny becuase it's true. I have friends like all of the monsters.
Yes. There are nerds of all kinds. Again, I recognize some of my friends in the characters in the video. Not the religious nuts but the other freaks. Your home is where your piece of nerdiness is law beit Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Battlefield, Star Trek or otherwise.
Love Firefly or die. It'll change your life. True story.
I was just about to post more videos but realized that you can just as well look them up yourselves. Try everything starting with "Troopers:". Because it's awesome.

Autumn is here and as long as it's dry, still and sunny I'm fine with it.
But what can be better on a sunny day than being inside a convention centre and sharing that claustrophobic happiness with thousands of other nerds? Not much I tell you, not much.
The Swedish movie Arn: The Knight Templar had lots of props on display and since I quite like the movie I checked it out.
I caught a pig-like creature hugging a snowtrooper on picture as well... She's got a nice new bag on her. Hmm. "Pure Evil Since '77"? You bet!
Same pig-like creature with an unknowing stormtrooper.
Here's what I know about the Star Wars costumes: Yes, they're very warm. Yes, they're very expensive. Yes, it's funny as hell walking around in them.
I'm just regretting not getting a picture of Jenette Goldstein when I got her autograph. Dang it. She even gave me compliments on my English! Awesomes.

There were also other props. In the picture below: Harry Potter, Silence of the Lambs, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark among others.

Now this is beyond perfect - it's all you could ever need. A bed. A bookshelf with plenty of books. A window. A lamp. Maybe a laptop and a mug of coffee. Me wants.

X-Men: First Class
Prologues seem to be the hot stuff of Hollywood this century. Especially in the superhero genre. So don’t you worry - we’ll see more of them no matter how little we like the concept. A prologue is like a sequel that’s not a sequel because it’s a prologue… So does that mean that we're allowed to like them since, after all, they're not sequels? (In my point of view, there are very few sequels that pass quality testing.)
Anyhooooooo… I expected a lot of things from X-Men: First Class and I’m the first one to admit that most of them were bad ones. After having seen the trailers and teasers and reviews (damn you Empire Magazine for tempting me) I felt the sudden fear of the rapid decent of the X-Men franchise into a shallow roadside grave.
Dude, was I wrong.
X-Men: First Class takes us back to the beginning of everything. The beginning of Professor X and the beginning of Magneto and everything they are both going to personify in the X-Men movies we’ve already seen (or have we?). The first images that hit us as the movie begin rolling are exactly what hit us at the beginning of the first X-Men movie from 2000.
It’s that rainy day in 1944 when Erik Lensherr and his family are led into a concentration camp where Erik meets the evil that will shape his future. Meanwhile Charles Francis Xavier grows up safe and protected. Spoiled and naïve he seeks to tell the world about mutation as evolution.
Needless to say is that I loved the movie. I really did. I was like a boy with a new action figure. There were some minor details that I could (despite my irritation) look away from (like the continuity glitch where Alex Summers aka Havok is Scott Summers aka Cyclops little brother and therefore about 30 years before his time or that Beast looks absolutely awful). A hugely unanticipated cameo made my evening and for the rest of the movie I was in mutant heaven, giggling occasionally to myself in my Wolverine t-shirt.
There was plenty of action, some really funny history re-writing and sometimes they even took some occational inspiration from some of the X-Men comics. I was awed by Kevin Bacon (Sebastian Shaw) and Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee) but the name-dropping even got me a little tired. I recognize most of the characters and names in the movie but seen from a new beginner’s eyes I’d be more than a tad bit confused. At times I got the feeling that you’re expected to know what’s going on even though you might not in fact never have read a single X-Men comic panel. Most of the characters are never introduced – which I found disappointing since I want background on my people – but instead you’re presumed to know these characters already and remember it perfectly.
Which kind of brings me back to Beast. Not only did I find it ridiculous that they chose scrawny little Nicholas Hoult to play Henry/Hank McCoy but also that once again the make-up department falls short (or three feet behind). Beast’s face looks like someone botoxed the hell out of it. On the other hand it’s still better than it was in X-Men 3 but that’s not even an accomplishment! I would have loved him to be… awesome for once.
Like the cool and intelligent, broad-shouldered computer wiz he is in the Ultimate X-Men comics:
Not the cat-like thingamajig (still crazy smart though) with awful hair we find in Astonishing X-Men:

Eben Brooks
Here's another one of those musical comedians that I find funny. His name is Eben Brooks and is behind masterpieces like "It's the End of the 'Verse as We Know It (and I Feel Fine)" and one of my favourites "Hey There Cthulhu" .
Speaking of musical comedians, I'm going to see Stephen Lynch together with a friend in June. Awesomes if anything.
