Beautiful women

I have a confession to make.
Liv Tyler has been my big lady crush for the last decade (since The Fellowship of the Ring) and it’s not wearing off one little bit. There are still tears of joy in my eyes every time I find new beautiful pictures of her somewhere for some new ad campaign she's running. You can always trust her to associate her name with quality labels. She’s beautiful in the way that makes me want to worship the ground she walks on. Or carry out some not so thought through thievery (reminds me of that trip to Poland when I pocketed decorative pictures of Liv in a perfume boutique...).
Oh, and she's had a shaved head too and really rocked that look.

Oh, the Day...

Oh dear...
Felicia Day's in the seventh (and last) season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer as a "potential Slayer". I've seen her everwhere lately - it's weird, but I guess it's only because I recognize her now that I notice her. Which is also weird. Because she's hot. Seriously. Oh, nerd chicks. So underrated.
On a not completely unrelated note; the shoes are coming along nicely. I haven't recieved any of the coloured textile pens I ordered yet, which means that so far the shoes are only black on white. As soon as the colours arrive the TARDIS will finally be turned blue.

Moustaches and shoes

White sneakers bought. Textile pens bought.
I might be mimicking a shitload of others by doing this, including a bunch of my friends, but at least I'll have a pair of unique shoes at the end.
It might get epic. Might. I'm not that good, mind you. I'll have fun. It's worth it.

Here, have some Sherlock Holmes laughing evilly in a moustache. You're welcome.

What the actual f...?

I think I just had a geek overload. I was enjoying the last episode of Supernatural (s07e20) and then there was Felicia Day. My mouth is hanging open... I can't even... I think I died a bit. It's too good.
Sam's such a geek. A total Potterhead.
Why do they do these things to me?

That somebody we used to know

Some songs just appeal to me and even though Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know (feat. Kimbra) has been playing on the radio non stop the last months I'm still not tired of it. This video with Walk Off The Earth's cover of the song circled around Facebook for months (I was dead sick of it) and while I thought it was great (to begin with) it lacked that certain something. I can still watch the video over and over just to stare at the dude to the right. He performs like a baws. It led me to find the original song and it was a total eargasm. It gives me chills. I had a short period of only listening to Hearts a Mess (from album Like Drawing Blood from 2006) last year so I was happy that there was new material. My latest obsession is Pentatonix's acapella version. Also total eargasm. On repeat right now. OMFG. Again! Encore!

873 reasons to dislike big boobs

All due respect to giant boobs but speaking as someone who hasn’t been able to buy a bra in any of the mainstream stores in the last 4 years I’m sick and tired of paying through the nose in order to get something that actually fits and doesn’t make my back go “ouch”.
I bought two spanking new bras today and realized I've gone down a cup size (victory dance, anyone?). 873 SEK ($130) later I had bagged my loot and gone out of the store while crying tears of blood.  It hurts my wallet but relieves my back.
I’m feeling more than a little miffed.
Just so you know.

Tear me apart

Ja, just det. Studier var det ju också. Någon som kan ge mig en time-turner? Where's that know-it-all Hermione Granger when you need her.

Also, I'm celebrating a new visitor record on the blog: over 1500 unique visitors so far this month alone. Woop woop! Awesome.

Put what you don't like in the cupboard

I got to admit I'm with the Doctor on this one.
Hitler's in there together with my schoolwork and everything else I don't want to know exists.

Horrible thought

Worst alternate Universe ever:
The Land of Perpetual Wednesdays.
As much as I dislike Mondays, Wednesdays are worse. They're right there in the middle of everything. Eugh. Thursdays are weird too - never quite could get the grasp on Thursdays.
Tuesdays aren't that good either. But at least on Tuesdays there's Pig 'n a Poke.
Fridays... That's today.
I'm in the middle of the fifth season of Buffy.

Playing with words

Since I don't really have that much to write about I'll share with you what I've been laughing at for the last two weeks. There's this meme I find very amusing... I reblogged every one of those bastards I could find on Tumblr. Word humour. I'm still laughing. Oh, Bad Joke Eel, how I love you.

Did the exam - check. Can't say if I did well or not.
Went to Stockholm over the weekend - check. It was snowing which sucked, but I met up with a friend for lunch one of the two days which was awesome.
New course today - check. Theology, lousy teacher.
Behind on my reading - check. *sighs* It's been ONE day!
Job interview today - check. Might have screwed that up but we'll see.

I don't like mondays - CHECK.

So many ideas - so little time

The truth is that I don't want to study. I really don't want to. I keep getting these new and seemingly exciting ideas for stories and clothes but as soon as I'm about to open a document to write them down or bring out some paper to quickly make a sketch I realize anew that I have an exam tomorrow that should be taking up all my time.
I hate not having an extra 15 hours every day to catch up on sleep.

Pimping the skin you're in - part IV

I told you I was going to post a picture as soon as the colours had been enhanced so I decided to do this before - after thing. Please excuse my pale leg. It's winter.

Before - small clover I had made in Belfast. Meh.
After - aces with the number 42 on them. Not bad.

42 - the Answer to the Question about Life, the Universe and Everything.

The Hutt's Little School of Movie Genres: Drama

Oh, the Drama!

This is where emotions and stuff like serious character development become very important to the genre – all those things that all humans have in common. What we should always keep at the back of our brains is the word “realistic” because the drama genre is there for us to be able to identify with characters and situations.
Drama can handle a range of different subjects including social problems, racial or generational conflicts and mental illness as well as politics, sports, history and media-related issues... just about anything involving one or several human beings basically.

As we noticed previously in the comedy genre we’ll find that drama is in fact a HUGE genre of movies in different varieties and quality so I’d rather say too little than too much about the genre. It’s a mix and match and most other genres are in fact more drama than anything else. The lines between genres are never fixed. The fact is that most movies nominated for an Academy Award are dramas of one kind or another.

Julia Roberts and Richard Gere seem to be very fond of acting within the genre while Sofia Coppola and Lasse Hallström like directing their contributions to it. Helena Bonham-Carter, Juliette Binoche, Jean Reno and Kenneth Branagh are to me some more excellent actors of the dramas. I also recommend Krzysztof Kieslowski and Luc Besson’s movies and plenty of other French and definitely British cinema if one’s curious about the genre.

Movies I’d recommend:
Crash, A Room with a View (1985), Dead Poets’ Society, Raise the Red Lantern, Heavenly Creatures, A Beautiful Mind, To Kill A Mockingbird, Black Snake Moan, Chocolat, Romeo + Juliet, Gilbert Grape, Good Will Hunting, Seven Pounds, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Prayers for Bobby, Garden State, Rashomon, JFK, Sunset Boulevard (1950), Schindler’s List, The Cider House Rules, Boys Don’t Cry, Kramer vs. Kramer, The Virgin Suicides, Le Grand Bleu.

Nerds will rule the Universe. You'll see. What ticks me off is that I was a nerd before it got cool. And that wasn't comfortable. Which makes this song have even a greater value to me. Wannabe nerds kind of gets on my nerves...
