Haters make me go librarian-poo

I’m sorry for my absence but there’s been… stuff. OK, I admit. I really don’t have any excuses to line up for You and I really don’t have to. I’m angry with the world.

 - My life is going nowhere fast.
 - I think I’m definitely slipping in school.
 - My back is still killing me.
 - And the latest topic with the Swedes on Facebook is hairy armpits. No joke. A woman was caught on screen a week ago in the audience of the biggest and most popular music competition of our country with unshaved armpits. A young man thought that this seemed like an excellent time to troll this woman and tell Facebook what a disgusting human being she was for not shaving off that hair. The whole thing spiralled out of control so he removed the picture but by then about 2000 people had already “liked” the post in which he explained to everyone about how revolted he was by her. OK, we get it. He doesn’t like women with hairy armpits. But you don’t see me walking over to him and beating his fucking face in with a baseball bat because I find him revolting. You don’t even see me writing it on Facebook. Why? It’s not my place to do so. Just like it’s not his place to tell anyone what to do with their own bodies. He’s not even fit to be on the same planet as women. Two days later I read in a newspaper about how a guy thinks Swedish women are boring since they only wear black. What business is that of his? Why do certain men make it their mission to make women feel like shit however much we try? One of men’s privileges in life is to look at us women because we’re beautiful, every motherfucking one of us, and men don’t dictate what we wear or don’t wear or what we shave or don’t shave. Every one of those choices are ours and ours alone.
The internet’s anonymous ways of trolling are truly getting on my tits.

Oh, yeah. For all you people out there who doesn't read the Discworld series: "Librarian-poo" means "apeshit". Because the librarian is an ape.

Stories told in gifs

A friend om mine asked me to write her a few short stories for her birthday since she likes them and I'm a poor little student who can't really think of anything else to give her. Poor in the brain department as well I guess.

At first I was like:

And couldn't really think of what to write.
But then I was like:

Now I've got 3½ short stories for her.
And I know she'll be like:

EDIT:
And then when she was done I was like:

Never Mind The Buzzcocks - Doctor style

Hosted by David Tennant (10th Doctor) for the Doctor Who Special:

I've got a question for Catherine Tate though; how can someone be on Doctor Who for 17 episodes as a companion to the Doctor and still not know anything about the show? I find that truly odd.

Hosted by John Barrowman (Captain Jack Harkness):

That John Barrowman really makes me laugh. And look! There's Noel Fielding's hair again as we might remember being one of the main characters from The Mighty Boosh.

Voices

It’s ridiculous. It’s absolutely ridiculous. But also, like small orgasms for the ears.
Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston, two men with very unique voices.
One man did a voice over for some Jaguar ads (that I keep listening to because of, correct, that voice!) and will be the voice of Smaug when the day comes for the second Hobbit movie. The other man doesn’t really talk, does he? He purrs! Makes me happy I’m a cat person to tell you the truth. Makes the experince all the more pleasant.
Feel the bromance!

Haven't seen War Horse yet but think I will pretty soon. Pretty soon.

Not for me

At least I tried, right? As it turns out there will be no San Diego Comic-Con for me this year. Another year perhaps. All tickets sold out in two hours and since there was a problem with the link I was supposed to follow to get my badges I ended up so far back in line that I got nothing. A big nothing. But hey, like I said; at least I tried. I’m not bitter.

Going away

I wish I had the time to get lost in books again. What I have now is one exam on Monday and another a week later. I’m less than thrilled. Ready for a break-down any moment now.
My back is killing me.
And I’m deep in love with the 10th Doctor. Suit and sneakers. Sideburns and reading glasses. He’s my man alright. I’ve got a plan for when the TARDIS comes for me. But only if the 10th Doctor is driving.
Allons-y!

Bokrea 2012

It's been a crazy week!

Monday – my week started off quite boring with school and... commuting.

Tuesday – it was Singles Awareness Day and I had lectures all day and spent all night with Doctor Who and Black Books. Bernard Black, my man, lets spend our time together with drinking wine and judging people while drowning them in sharp sarcasm.

Wednesday – I spent most of my day with my books and then shared ridiculous amounts of coffee with some friends at our district’s LGBT Youth Café. (“It’s cheaper than a movie and there’s free coffee.” - Marla Singer, Fight Club) We also have cupcakes, biscuits and other delicious thingies one can eat. Omnom.

Thursday - my new tattoo covers the old one I got in Belfast and includes the legendary answer to The Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything no less than four times. Not too sure I will hand out a picture of it before it’s healed up. All you need to know is that it's bigger and better.

Friday – I buried myself in books to catch up on my reading for school and then headed off north with my two companions to hold some diversity training workshops focusing on LGBT issues. Despite that it was my first time it went well I think. More of that next week!

Saturday – I don’t know when parking one’s car in a ditch turned into a good idea but apparently I found it immensely amusing to do so. No worries, I didn't get hurt, my passenger didn't get hurt and my car didn't get hurt. We're alright. Snow is never just snow for too long around here so sliding off the road because of slush and being appointed president of my local LGBT Youth Federation was Saturday’s chores.

Sunday – all that remained for me to do was to change my hair colour. So I did. It’s now some shade of brownish copper... or was it mahogany brown? Either way, it’s a bit different but not too much. So far, so good. We’ll see how I feel about all this in the morning.

And I really hope that next week is a bit less eventful. There’s two weeks left until my first exam for this semester and the mere thought of sitting down for six hours just to spew out everything I’ve learnt since the middle of January is daunting.
But I'm longing for the weekend following that momentous exam because that’s when I get to meet the babes I went to university with a few years back. I miss them all like crazy and I’m super-excited to see them again.

Knock, knock.

"Knock , knock!"
"Who's there?"
"The Doctor."
"Doctor Who?"
"Correct."

It’s official – I’m a Whovian. Doctor Who is the new fandom to add to all the others (it's getting a bit crowded, isn't it?).
It’s the playfulness of the show that I enjoy the most. One never encounters that doomsday sensation like in most scifi shows. And then there’s the Doctor, oh the Doctor! At the moment I'm enjoying David Tennant's tenth doctor. There's something strangely arousing with a handsome man who matches a suit with Converse sneakers.

Hardcore comic book nerds

I f*ing love them. This rant is in one word: "amazing".

Oh and btw; how many of the actors can You recognize?
(And how much do we dislike DC now? I was completely convinced that Superman was a total douchebag but not exactly how much of one until I watched this)

Inked

Song on my mind right now: "I've got a brand new tattoo...".
Just like last time I was a total wuss and almost fainted a few minutes in. Other than that it was an awesome 1,5 hours. My leg's a bit swollen now. I'll post a picture when it's all calm and nice again.

THERE ARE FEW WORDS adequate enough to thank the ever so scrumptious Lucy. Baby, never change. Thank you for keeping me company today.

Happy S.A.D. everyone!

Valentine's Day is that sort of fabricated holiday that makes me really furious (what holiday isn’t fabricated though?). It doesn’t have all that much to do with me being single because Valentine’s made me sick when even back when I was together with someone. It’s the whole idea of commercializing love and putting a value on it. Love is an all around the year thing and is not to be bought. Making it pink doesn’t make it any better - as if pink wasn’t horrible to begin with.
Valentine’s Day began being celebrated in the 13th century but was actually established at the end of the 5th century and by the Middle Ages it became fashionable. It wasn’t until the 19th century that we began giving each other cards. By now it’s more about chocolates, dinners, flowers, teddy bears and all sorts of things – the pricier the stuff the better it would seem. Call me a stick in the mud if you will, but I think that’s bullshit. When did handwritten cards or letters that actually means something go out of fashion? I don’t want a card that’s been given to hundreds of other people! That’s not love. That’s laziness and a huge lack of imagination.
Now that I’m single Valentine’s makes me more than a little bit bitter. I do realize that I’m like hundreds of thousands of other singles out there with all this pent up anger dribbling out bit by bit in a blog post that only a selected few will have the energy to get through but I can’t help it. I’m not even going to try and stop myself. I can’t stand all the hypocrisy surrounding the concept of love. But mostly, I'm bitter because there's no reason to feel bad about being single. Being one half of a couple does not mean you're complete.
I am not a cynic.

Happy Singles Awareness Day!

February resolutions

(New Year’s resolutions are so last year so I had to think of something else.)
I’m making a resolution effective immediately; I’m going to give people more compliments. If I think someone is beautiful or have a particularly awesome set of shoes on, that’s exactly what I’ll tell them. I think people deserve more compliments. They deserve to know that they’re valuable.
So yeah. That’s what I’ll be working on from tonight.
My single hope with this is that people will respond in kind. C’mon people, I dare you. Tell people around you how much you appreciate them and see what happens.
