On the subject of the 12th Doctor

Of course, he doesn't have a good REAL suggestion for a female Doctor which brings his score down a few notches. But he's still kind of funny.

PB & J toast

Did you guys know that hand sewn fabric buttons look a bit like little squids?

And these are the big ones for the front of the wool kirtle. Twenty of them. Other than these, I've got smaller buttons for the arms, seventeen so far but I need at least nine more. At least. They're a total bitch to stitch. And don't even get me started on the linen dress with the lacing holes and everything. Ugh.
On the other hand, I recieved my new books on medieval fashion today. One of the two is on English fashion of the 14th century and I'm thrilled. Lots and lots of photos of illuminated manuscripts. Yeah. Definite nerd.

Sorry, I'm time-travelling

I'm sorry for leaving you guys hanging but I've been stitching lacing holes for a linen dress I'm making while also making fabric buttons for a wool dress that I'm also making. This means that my interest in medieval fashion has finally caught up to me in time to finish some new outfits for The Medieval Week on Gotland. I didn't go last year because after seven consecutive years I was feeling a little tired of it all and frankly, I didn't like that feeling. This year is very different because I really want to go. I want to wander around the beautiful town of Visby, wear my dresses, listen to the kind of music that makes my foot start tapping involutarily. I want to drink Kapitelhusgården's beer with my friends, I want to smell like burning wood for weeks and I want to saunter around the marketplace just to feel the scents of candied almonds and different foods. Oh, the overpriced food. Oh, saffron pancakes.

Les Mis

Am I going to get a pitchfork to the face if I say that I didn't like Les Misérables? Nah.

New Doctor

I'm going to be completely honest with you - I'm happy that Matt Smith is leaving the Doctor Who project after the 50th Anniversary. Personally, I never warmed up to him as the Doctor. Now I'll have to wait for the announcement of the next Doctor like everyone else but I find myself not caring too much. I vote for either Idris Elba or Lucy Liu (even though a British actress might be better). But knowing that Steven Moffat stays on worries me. If they cast a female to be the Doctor this regeneration Moffat might make a mess of everything and leave this regeneration to writhe in fandom hate for one season as proof that you can't have a female Doctor. It hurts me. A Doctor of colour would make me infinitely happy though.

------------------------------
EDIT: And so they cast Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor. Though I think it'll be great but I still want Moffat off Doctor Who. A female Doctor? A Doctor of colour? Better luck next time, mate.

Happy 1st birthday D3!

If you play Diablo 3 today, this first anniversary of the release of the game, you'll get a treasure and magic find bonus. So go play now, all of you! The game is still quite shitty but there might be some good loot around.

Improvement

Soooo... I'm watching Jericho and just had an awkward realisation. Flashforward is actually like the improved version of Jericho. I keep getting these feelings of déjà vu every single episode. Too bad Jericho got two seasons while Flashforward only got one. I mean, Flashforward had Dominic Monaghan. That should be enough to deserve a second season, wouldn't you think?

Favourite obsessions

Game of Thrones is on tonight. Not that I can see it tonight. I'll have to wait until tomorrow which means that I'll watch it after work.
Sorry for the GoT posts but it's my favourite pastime as none of my plans are going as well as I hoped.
What's happening in my life? Not much.
I've tried watching some new tv shows to keep my mind off things. Luther, Jericho and The Dresden Files are those I will want to keep watching (Dresden mostly because I've read some of the books - entertaining but not amazing). The others I've simply forgotten all about after watching some tedious pilot which didn't catch my attention at all.
I've also tried out a new piercing. This time: nasal septum. It didn't hurt as much as I thought it would and as I look back at the last four weeks of healing it feels good. Now, not only do I have short hair and a certain love for hats, shiny shoes and plaid shirts but also a facial piercing. I'm so hipster it hurts. Dammit. Too bad I can't grow a moustache to go with my incredible glasses.
On the other hand, I've miscalculated the amount of fabric I would need for a dress I was making for The Medieval Week which means that I don't have enough to actually finish it which sucks. Balls.
Tonight someone stole my booked laundry time and I didn't even have the energy to fight so I just gave up and went for a walk. Not like me in the least.

I live for my own cooking - I'm an excellent chef but have also realised that enjoying food is so much easier when I'm treating someone else to dinner.

We Do Not Sow

Oh dear Lord, after last night's episode of Game of Thrones I'm having all these Theon Greyjoy feels and nowhere to put them. Poor, poor little Theon.

Peter Hollens' voice

Peter Hollens is one of those freakishly talented men that shows up a little now and then on my feed on Tumblr and/or Facebook whenever he's made a new song. Thus was the case when he did some of his a capella magic based on Skyrim (xx), Game of Thrones and The Hobbit but I think my favourite so far is his original song Sleepwalking. Enjoy.

------------
Ok. I give in. This one is awesome too.

Wooooooah...!

Have I mentioned how much I love Game of Thrones? I haven't? I should. God damn... Season three was worth the wait. I'm so in love with this show. It's magic. The books too. They're fantastic.

Riding the bus like a baws

Riding the bus is never as awesome as when I've got this baby booming in my headphones. Actually, to tell the truth, everything is way more awesome when this shuffles past.
