I work retail. Food-ish part of the spectrum.
And since the latest of the corona viruses' been around business has been a-booming.
So we have sales rocketing through the roof but only the one extra staff so far. Which means that everyone has had to do extra hours and extra shifts and work with somewhere roundabouts twice as much wares as we normally work with this time a year. It's like having Christmas sale rates for months on end.
It's fucking exhausting.
I was supposed to be out of the country this week and get myself a bigger tattoo. I cancelled the trip but kept the vacation time and I reeeeeeeally needed it. Some good food, lots of naps, some podcasts, some good drink, some books and comics, some of that glorious rest. Yeah. Yum.

Shoot me now
I really need a vacation. I really need my wonderful, hardened and experienced colleagues to come back from theirs. Soon. Now. Yesterday.
I have three god damned weeks left until my own vacation and the current mood is that I want to die. But only after I strangle every single motherfucker who tries any shit that could hinder my days from running smoothly. I'm keeping a list and am adding names.
And until I leave for four glorious weeks off I have to put on a brave face and muddle through. Be the Big Boss and act like an Adult™ just a little while longer.
After my four weeks are done I'm moving on to my new employment. Same kind of job, different area of town. Less responsibility, better pay. Full time.

Like, really good
Just when I started to relax, lay back, breathe deep and easier, I realised that I'm going back to work next Tuesday. A week from now. I've got a week to just do what I feel at the moment I feel it. Been to the gym (first times since May) two days straight and it felt good. Like, really good. To be going because I feel like it and not because I feel guilty for not going is a treat.
Vacation time soon to be over.
Autumn's approach.
I can do this. (Though I don't want to.)

Three days left...
Three work days left...
...and I have to go over references this week and go through the last check points before hiring our new colleague. I am very ready for my vacation.
...and the dress is almost done. Which is good because I'm leaving on Sunday morning.

Seven left...
Seven work days left (three days as the omniscient ruler of the shop) and I'm in the middle of preparing to recruit a new member of staff. I wasn't actually aware that I was going to do this before my boss handed me the info... the day before she left for two weeks of vacation. At first I felt anxious, not to mention uneasy with my newly found pool of power, but then I just figured "ok, fuck it, lets jump straight into it then".
So I have.
And here's a little piece of advice for you nerds out there applying for jobs right now: if you want to get hired by someone you don't open your interview with telling your prospective boss you just applied for the job because you "had to". It won't win you any points. Nobody's impressed by that. Trust me.
Do read up on the company with which you're interviewing. Even the tiniest bit would be good, thank you. Don't show up uninformed.
Also don't mention how much you dislike your current employment if you have one. Will not win you any points either.
Oh, and don't act like a total jerk if you happen to visit the company with which you're scheduled for an interview. Especially not when the person you'll be interviewed by can hear you being a total jerk. Will not win you any points.
I suppose I should look at this whole experience as a way of learning more about what not to do when I apply for jobs myself.
But I'm certainly a sensitive bundle of nerves at the moment and about 110% ready for my upcoming four weeks of doing nothing but whatever I feel like doing.
Sleeping is something you can do for four weeks straight, right?

Twelve left...
Only twelve workdays left until I leave for a marvellous four weeks of vacation.
I. Can't. Fucking. Wait.
My boss is on vacation. And all my other unofficial superiors. I've been left in charge. So obviously everything had to go to shit.
Nine more workdays of playing boss-woman and then three more workdays and then... then...
FREEDOM.

Category: 'dafuq just happened?'
The strangest thing happened during work today and I can't get it unstuck from the grey goop that is my mind.
I work in a shop and inevitably end up having checkout duty. So far, so good. I've had some very interesting discussions right there at the checkout desk but I have to say... I didn't wake up this morning expecting to FUCKING SMELL A CUSTOMER today. I swear, sometimes my job... hands me the weirdest situations to deal with.
A dude is going through checkout, he's just payed for his stuff when he suddenly goes "this is an odd question but do I smell good?" No shit Sherlock, it's odd but I can't be arsed to feel embarrassed in these situations so without hesitation I leaned in to smell him. He smelled good. I asked him if he had a new perfume on. "Yes!" he beams (and it's a very nice smile) "It's pine!" I'm enjoying the moment we're sharing and the golden opportunity to take the piss out of him that has presented itself when I realise that the other 10 or so customers (try 20, it was a Friday afternoon) standing within earshot of us are all giggling (and are also waiting to pay for their shit and leave), but again: I really can't be arsed to feel embarrassed. Besides, I'm having too much fun. I wish him a very nice weekend and he leaves, still smiling.
I fucking live off of these moments. People are generally just a bunch of bastards but there are still individuals that spin shit into gold. They make up for all the other crap I have to go through.
GOLD I'm telling you.

Happy Midsummer!
I might not look forward to this traditionally festive occassion as much as many of my fellow Swedes but at least I look cool as fuck.
One more work day and then I'm off on a romantic weekend with my man.
Laters, nerds! 😛

Closing in on the end of 2015...
...and thank God for that.
Eighteen days left of this year to go and twelve of them will be spent at work, which is really why I'd like the year to be over ASAP. Working in a shop January and February are my favourite months as work goes because no one has any money left to spend after the Holidays.

Work? Nah...
Oh, I just love how I seem to be the only one at my workplace without a life. You know, hobbies in my spare time that I need to take into account. The only person who can offer to cover for collegues when they have better things to do. Or just can't muster up the energy to make an effort for the group.
I went to work at 6AM today and left work at 5PM. Because they needed me there when others chose to not be there for one reason or another. Because going to the gym is more important, right?

STRIKE
This year's first real heat wave struck my city yesterday and today I've got the worst case of the chub-rubs that I've had in years. Stings like a motherf-r. On the other hand this is the first summer
in a very long time that I'm wearing anything showing off some leg.
I guess the tattoos will do that to you.
Well, it does to me.
And other people of my lovely city. Which is exactly why I love summer. The sun shows it's face for five minutes and suddenly everyone and their cousin is half-naked. It's also much easier to find a tattooed person in Sweden than someone without ink. Mostly fantastic.
Speaking of tattoos; my new boss likes my apple pie.
And I have a colleague who looks so much like Ricki Hall I want to take him home and use him as an art piece.
I'm sorry about the absence, but I've got shit to take care of.

Bagginses
I think I did alright at work after seeing The Hobbit. Slept for 2 hours and then did 10 hours of work before I could go home and die a little. Oh sweet caffeine, you know how to keep me awake.
But strangely enough I really can’t figure out if I liked the movie or not and that’s usually a bad sign for me. Now, I haven’t read The Hobbit in a few years and don’t remember it very well but I felt the movie was cluttered and sometimes just too much. There’s also some amount of nagging worry about how they’ve managed to make three movies out of a book of 120 pages. And then there’s Dr Wats... no wait, I mean Martin Freeman, and his constant look of equal parts surprise and puzzlement. And WHAT THE HELL WERE THE WARG RIDERS DOING AT WEATHERTOP??! Is it just me or does it bother anyone else that the Wolves of Isengard are roaming through Arnor?
It was beautiful though - stunningly so. 48 frames per second and 3D was awesome.
I have to see it again.
