I was a big fan of the original series of Fullmetal Alchemist but was curious to see what the differences would be between the old stuff and what appears to be a reboot. For the first 20 episodes, there was no more difference than that they had removed all my favourite scenes. I was ready to crack skulls I felt so cheated. After that, the differences have been plentiful and rather huge. It's also been rather amazing with many of my questions from the last time getting closer to be answered. I'm ready to recommend it to all those who didn't have the patience to keep watching.
It's a bit like Fafner in the Azure; it grows on you after a certain amount of episodes (for Fafner, it was 14 episodes, before that it was kind of boring and, to tell the truth, deeply depressing but nowadays I count it to be one of my favourite animes). ---------------------------------------- EDIT: 64 episodes have passed and I should sum up this anime. I have a few words: PERFECT ENDING IS PERFECT. ALL THESE FEELS. I CANNOT CONTAIN THEM ALL.
It wasn’t that long ago that I discovered that there was a second season AND a short OVA series to Darker Than Black(which just happens to be one of my absolute favourite anime series) and not only that but also that one of my favourite Japanese girl rock bands Stereopony had made the OP (short for opening theme) for the second season! I started liking Stereopony after their song Hitohira no Hanabira had been made the (17th) ending theme for Bleach (another famous anime) and recently I pillaged an internet village to find their second album Over The Border which features Tsukiakari no Michishirube.
Anyhow, after having watched all episodes I’ve missed out on, in two days, I conclude – Darker Than Black is still on my Top Five Best Anime Series.
"Fafner in the Azure - Dead Aggressor" is an excellent anime if you're considering to give it a go. Also watch the OVA episode "Soukyuu no Fafner: LEFT OF RIGHT". The movie "Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor: Heaven and Earth" was just released in Japan only a month ago. I'm going to see it - of course.
I still get the shivers when I listen to this song (though I saw the anime four years ago) but I haven't quite decided if it's awesome or just plain horrible. And this is the whole song, not just the opening version. The Japanese J-Pop band Angela made all the themes for Fafner (I know they're weird, but their music grows on you, trust me!).
